The Taieri Tennis Club held the annual Selwyn White Memorial Handicap Doubles Tournament on Sunday February 28, 2016 as part of the Festival of the Plain celebration. Tournament director Lindsay Connor said all 14 players have an equal chance of winning because the stronger players receive a heavy points handicap that must be overcome every game. “It is intended to encourage participation from members of all abilities, always makes a fun and challenging day, and often produces unexpected results.” Partners are drawn at the start of the day, everyone plays everyone, and many matches are only won by one game.
